MYOPIA

Causes Of High Myopia In Children
Dameges caused by technological devices

TECHNOLOGICAL DEVISES CAUSES BLURRED EYE VISION

”MYOPIA”

According to Shlomit Schaal, an eye surgeon and assistant professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville, myopia is a condition caused by a combination of hereditary factors and environmental factors that include close work or stress on the eyes caused by reading also focusing on a near objects, such as smart phones and laptops or computer which can strains the eyes. When a phone or other device is held close to one’s face, it forces the eye to work harder than usual to focus on text. This is a very serious issue because we lose our vision at a very young age while back then it was known that only elderly people are the ones who struggle a lot from that. Nowadays it’s the opposite because of the new technological devices that mostly target young people example youth and people at professional or varsity level because of they are the ones who make use of those devices a lot, it’s like because of this new technological devices we cannot enjoy our natural vision without glasses or contact lenses.
Myopia is a very secretive problem because of before you can do eye testing you cannot notice it, you can take it for granted thinking that its nothing serious until you get tested and you are told you cannot drive or have your learners without glasses, that’s how sad it is. Myopia can be treated and managed if known by individuals by simply taking regular breaks, and blink when using their devices, looking around at objects that are at different distances. Regular eye testing is also important because of if there is a problem with your vision it can be corrected with glasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery. Depending on the degree of your myopia, you may need to wear your glasses or contact lenses all the time or only when you need very clear distance vision, like when driving, seeing a chalkboard or watching a movie. The progression of myopia can lead to eye diseases and blindness if not treated well or an individual is given glasses with minus power lenses that are prescribed by uncaring doctors. New technology is more advance easy to access and makes life easy and fast but what about our health, is like it always has bad or harmful consequences, it is also addictive for example the smart phones that we use, it is not easy to put them away, our eyes are always focused on them because of we spend lot of time chatting with our friends, colleagues and friends forgetting the impact the device has on our eyes. Sometimes we spend lot of hours doing our school work for example typing our assignment without shifting or resting our eyes then they become blurry, the management skills for myopia are forgotten by then  and buy the time we are sixty years older we cannot see at all because of these devices. Technology needs to be advance with no harm in our lives so that we can live longer and happy after all.
